About SSDL
RESEARCH DESCRIPTION:
Research projects underway at the Solid & Structural Dynamics Lab (SSDL) are aimed at enhancing the dynamic performance of engineering structures and systems by utilizing novel confluences of designs, materials, and processes. Performance-tailoring of complex structures for cutting-edge mechanical and aerospace applications are of particular interest. Specific focus areas at present are acoustic metamaterials, acoustic liners, adaptive/ multifunctional structures and high strain-rate behavior of materials. The research has a significant (but not exclusively) experimental component along with development of analytical and numerical tools and some involvement in new product development.
